The Story: Dad is working on something this weekend in the garage. He won't let me go into the garage, because it is dangerous. So I wait by the kitchen and look through the door leading into the garage. Whatever he is doing, Dad is making a lot of loud and weird noises. I have never heard sounds like this before, and even though Mom tries to distract me I am fixated on what Dad is doing. Sometimes he asks Mom for things, and she always tells me to stay in the kitchen. Sometimes being the small one is the worst. Everything is too big for me, and everything might hurt me. I don't think Mom and Dad know just how tough and how strong I am! But it doesn't matter, because I haven't learned that many new words yet. "Dada" I point as Mom comes back from the garage. "She nods and runs her hands through my hair. "I know, _________. Dada is working on a surprise for you. And it should be ready next weekend!" She tries to reassure me as I stay by the kitchen door, curious as a cat.
