The Story: Instead of staying home, Mom drives early in the morning to a different house and when we get there, I recognize Auntie _________. Mom even tells me this is Auntie's house, and I smile because I had already figured that out. She gives me a kiss on the forehead and says something Dad usually says before he goes to the Work, "Good bye." I stop smiling. Why would she kiss me and say that to me? As I am thinking about it, Mom heads to the door and I hear Auntie say, "Everything will be fine." Then the door closes. I stare in disbelief for a second or more before my whole face melts into tears. Is she leaving me here? Is she ever coming back? I miss Mom!! Auntie scoops me up in her arms and wipes my tears away. She is talking in such a soft tone, I have to quiet down to hear her. That is when she introduces me to my first piece of candy! It's so sweet and delicious, I forgot all about Mom and had a great time with Auntie __________.
